Problem Statement:
I plan to determine what the impact of student achievement is on third graders when every student is given their own laptop in the classroom for learning purposes.
Who: 3rd Graders
What: The impact of student achievement when each student is given their own laptop for learning purposes
Why: Impact of student learning
I think this is a great topic to research. Many classrooms only have a couple of computers to share between students. I definately would imagine that it would be easier for teachers and students if they each had an individual computer but it would be interesting to see what the impact on student learning would be by having a computer for each student. Good luck with the research!
ReplyDeleteComputer time is hard to come by at my school. We can sign up for 45 minutes a week or check out the laptop cart to use in class. It is in high demand and sometimes hard to get. It would be wonderful if each student could have their own lap top to use at school and home. I would be interested to see what you find out.
ReplyDeleteThis is such an awesome topic idea. I attended a university in which every student was given a laptop as part of their tuition. I think it really made a difference for computer literacy with the graduates if nothing else. It seems so many more students came out with skills that previous grads or students from other universities didn't have. However, the university found that more and more students were staying in their dorms and having less face to face contact since they created a massive virtual environment. Video game addiction also increased, as did illegal downloading of music/movies.
ReplyDeleteI am interested to see the results of your research. In Gwinnett County, Georgia, our magnet high school provides laptops for all of their students. I have heard mixed reviews from the teachers, but overall, they think it is a positive experience.
